You know what? I think people are more interesting to read when they're on your Friends page. If you're just reading their journal straight through, it may be a writing style-overload. Also, you're reading, say, two weeks (or much more, if they're an infrequent poster) of their life all in one sitting, which could get boring. This doesn't apply to everyone, of course, but . . . from now on, if I'm iffy about someone, I'm going to add them, and then if I get bored, I'll just get rid of them again.

And how about those people who make great fucking comments, so you add them, and their journal SUCKS? What a disappointment THAT is. Slightly less worse is that their journal doesn't suck, per se, but it's very "this-is-what-I-did-with-Bob-and-Fred-and-twenty-other-people-you-don't-know-and-it-was-interesting-to-us-but-boring-for-you-to-read". Oops, I do that all the damn time. Or when they post ABOUT LiveJournal, and who is and is not good to have on one's Friends page? Lame!
