Don't quote me, boy I ain't said shit

Yesterday I was in a half hour early, and stayed until seven thirty finishing up an Environmental Impact Statement. That's TWELVE hours, except for when I went home for lunch! That may not seem like a lot to you, but it is to me, because I don't like work. At least my paycheck will reflect my devotion.

So I'm rewarding myself by totally jerking around on the internet this afternoon. I'm such a bad worker.

So get this -- they're releasing the Mini in the United States! And it looks totally radicool! I'd throw you a link, but I read about it in Newsweek, so you'll just have to find one yourself. I'm so excited! I wish someone had told me about it sooner, though, because now I have this car that isn't a Mini. I love Mini's. When I was in Europe I totally wanted one. But it's okay that I can't get one right away, because they might release a convertible version in a few years! I won't be the first person on my block to have one by then, though, and that's kind of a bummer, but man. I don't even know why I like them so much -- I guess because they're cute.

Know what other kind of car I want? A 1964 Dodge Dart, in orange or blue. Or an Impala, convertible, metallic purple, with white interior. I don't what year because I don't know much about Impalas, but rappers are always going on about "six-four Impalas", so I guess I probably want a '64. I'll amend that later if I find a better year.

Or an old pickup, like from the 1940's or '50's, nice American model like a Chevy or a Ford. I like how tall and round they are.

I need to find a car guy to date. (By that I mean "to go out with", not "up until this point").

I saw a billboard in NYC that said "the SUV backlash starts now", and i got all excited because I HATE SUV's. The billboard also said "miniusa.com" . So I don't know much about Mini's but I'll support anything that would bash SUV's.

Okay, now that I've gotten a good, 360* look at the thing, I'm not as jazzed. They're a little too-modern looking, I prefer an older version. But I still really like them, and YO the INTERIOR is fucking great, and that's what you're looking at all the time anyway, right? Right.

thumbs up, way up
Man, Impalas are the proverbial shit. I believe '64 was a good year, but pretty much any year is good. I think I would be very happy to have any of the big land yachts of the '60s: Chevy Impala, Caprice, Chrysler M-series, Lincoln anythings, a Cadilac, a Ford Galaxy 500 maybe (you know what the 500 stands for? CUBIC INCHES, holy shit)... Convertibles with big-ass engines, that's what America is all about, right?

Funny that what I bought was a brand-new compact Japanese import with a 2-liter engine, about as far from all those others as you could get. But, you know, it's super-fast, and handles wickedly, so it's good too.

Dear lord, this is the cutest car in the world. I designed one in british racing green with black bonnet stripes. I am in love.

Plus, nice website. It features BEE BUTTS!

Interestingly enough, Mr. Saal is a big fan of the Mini. He wouldn't shut the fuck up about it a couple months ago. Maybe you should date him.

I can't say I understand the attraction, although it may be because the seat's only wide enough for one of my ass cheeks. Give a HMMV or a Volkswagen Thing any day.

Re: .
jay likes the car because he's a total homo, and not nearly the correct size for a normal human male.

Re: .
Man, seriously, he's significantly smaller and significantly gayer than ME, and that's a bold fucking statement right there. No offense to the guy; I'm just sayin'.

I am actually fairly impressed -- I was expecting something that conveyed more a sense of "clown transport," than a car, but that looks neat.

Mind you, my dream car's still a replica of director Sam Raimi's '73 Oldsmobile Delta Royale, as seen in The Evil Dead, and almost all of his films since, but I could still very easily see myself driving a mini, were I, y'know, a girl...
