Yesterday Mitch was in the area getting his car inspected (he said that he drove by my work, and then he said, "you're right, there ARE no windows!") so he met me at my house for lunch and he had with him SAMMICHES! Roast beast for me! Then we watched Port Charles together. I spent the half hour explaining the ridiculousness of everything. Man, they killed off/sent to Ireland my favorite couple last week. The best looking and most interesting. Bollocks. I love in soaps where somebody'll say "I'm really worried about Frank," and then end scene, cut to -- Frank! What a surpise!
Yesterday I did two traffic counts, one in the morning and one in the evening. I liked the morning one better. It was hot yesterday, so I was getting all sweaty in my car for the 4-7 one. But the morning one? It was from 7-9. I got to see the sun rise -- well, rise higher, anyway --- and a thunderstorm came, with lightning and everything. Then the storm ended and the sun came out and dried up all the rain. I listened to my AM news station for the first hour, but then I got tired of hearing about the dude who jumped into the Schuylkill River (he and this other guy were in an accident on the westbound Vine Expressway, and while they were out of their cars discussing things another accident happened behind them, and dude was afraid he was going to get hit so he leaped over the side of the bridge and tried to hang on but couldn't, so he fell 100 feet into the river and yelled "it's cold and I can't swim!" and then the authorities got there and threw him a life preserver and got him out and he was in the water for about 20 minutes, and a guy who had been on the banks of the river said it was just like a movie. Not a particularly interesting story, I'm just illustrating how well I know it after hearing it described ten times) and put on my new mix (which is starting to be not-new, boo) and started bouncin' and was ready for the day.
Yesterday I cleaned my kitchen. I don't mind cleaning once I've gotten going, it's just so hard for me to get going, it's really quite awful. Then I watched the final, excruciating innings of the Phillies game, and then headed over to Mitch's with the second halves of our sammiches. We played chess and I lost, and then we played Boggle and I lost. Then we went to bed and it was hot so no covers and I thought I didn't like to sleep with no covers, but man, best sleep in a LONG time. I felt so rested when I woke up, I never feel rested. And this morning, something about the angle of the sun -- the sunlight was yellow in the house, all yellow, to match my tank top and flip flops.
Tonight I'm cooking breakfast for dinner. We're going to have mimosas.
