Thanksgiving update; geniusscientist.com update

I had a lovely Thanksgiving weekend.  I went home, and had dinner with my parents, brother, and grandparents.  I made carrots and stuffing and chocolate pecan pie, and helped make the mashed potatoes at the house.  Everything was delicious.  I stayed two nights, once in the living room on the sofa bed and once on the new full-sized bed in my old room that my parents just bought.  That bed is so. comfortable.  I always assumed that I liked firm mattresses, but this one was softer, and I still liked it just fine.  Also, I decided that a full is the perfect size for sleeping by oneself.  I have a queen at my apartment, which is the perfect size for sharing with some dude, but it's a little too big when I'm on my own -- I end up sleeping diagonally.

I watched Rushmore on Comedy Central and Happy Gilmore on Encore or Starz or some shit.  I came home Saturday night, arriving at my apartment at around 11pm.  I took a nap until 1:30am, woke up, and watched TNG until 4:30.  I'm crazy.

As I was leaving my parents Saturday night, my dad made a crack about my car and it infuriated me.  I was livid for the entire 2 hour drive home.  I blame it partially on PMS, but mostly my dad's kind of an ass.  And I wish he would just be straight with me, instead of making little comments.  When are sarcastic little comments EVER preferable to straight talkin'?  Like never.

I updated the website.  I know it's been a month and you don't give a shit, but I finally finished the Halloween photos:

(Oh, and I am aware that the links on that first page are unreadable; I will get around to fixing that eventually, honest.)  Man, I don't know about you, but as I'm composing this entry and looking for appropriate links, geniusscientist.com is loading MAD slowly.  I'm not sure what is up with that.  I hope it doesn't stay that way.

I also completed a page on an event that happened a little over a year ago:  Tailgating at the Rutgers-Temple game last October.

I wanted to do some more recent stuff, but of the two burned CDs I brought with me to my parents', only the one with the 2003 stuff worked properly.  Oh well.  I might have the Thanksgiving stuff done before the end of the week.

Check out my shit!  Seriously.  What else are you going to do for the next ten minutes, work?  Come on now.

Car Insurance

Hey guys.

I've never bought my own car insurance.  I'm going to do so in the near future.

For those of you living in New Jersey (or those who used to live in New Jersey) -- what car insurance do you have?  What do you pay a year?  I just got a quote from Geico (Geico works in New Jersey now, how exciting!) for $1,725 for six months.  Does that sound about right?  Man that's a lot of money.

For those of you out-of-state, I thank you, but specific advice or comments will most likely be useless -- New Jersey has some whacky car insurance laws, and a lot of companies don't even work in the state, and when they do, prices are through the roof.  But thank you anyway.

Oh and also, I don't know if anyone will be able to help me with this, but -- technically I live in Gloucester County, but my mailing address (and therefore the address they're using to come up with a quote) is in Camden County, which (I've heard) has slightly higher insurance rates.  Does anyone know what I might be able to do about that?  I suppose I can compare quotes, and then when I actually purchase a policy, try to talk to a real live human being who can help me out with that.

EDIT: I just re-did the quote without fessing up to my traffic violations, and I got a quote of $600 for six months. I like that one MUCH better.

I've had three speeding tickets in the past five years. The first two were dropped down to non-point violations (I go to court for the third one sometime this month). Does that mean I don't have to tell the insurance people about them? Or what? I always thought that you wanted point violations gone, because point violations meant your insurance went up. So if I have no points, then am I under no obligation to let the insurance company know about other violations? Or what?
