I <3 Peace

Hello Philly area kids.

I think I am going to go to the anti-war march in Philly on Saturday. It starts at noon, at Broad and Spring Garden. Finishes up at the Liberty Bell.

If anyone would like to come with, let me know. I've just . . . I bitch and moan about how all this is not what I want, but I haven't done a damn thing about it, besides bitch and moan.

Thanks to illscientist for the heads up.

P.S. Do we bring signs? Like one that says "BOB" with an arrow pointing down? Or what? I'm against picketing, but I don't know how to show it.

Pretty much. And probably no one who has the power to do anything will listen. But it will make me feel a little better.

oh man! AWESOME!
It does make you feel better. It's totally worth it. Bring signs if you want. At every one I have been to people have brought signs. At the Juarez one, all the people from sista 2 sista brought pots and pans and clanged them really loud. It was awesome.

There is still domestic violence, sex crimes and such, so anything I marched and yelled against still goes on, but it feels awesome to know you aren't the only one fightin' mad, and you really learn more about the issue, because people from organizations and stuff show up. Washu, there are always so many young girls at these things with so much fire in their bellies, it makes me so happy. Just being around people who want to take time out of their day to try and bring positive change is uplifting and the BEST kind of people watching.

So yes, it will make you feel GREAT! Have a good time!

Re: oh man! AWESOME!
My feelings on the war and the middle east are far too conflicted. But I think it's awesome that you are going!

Re: oh man! AWESOME!
You do learn more about the issue, but it tends to be all in one direction -- admittedly, you're not going to find a lot on the up side of domestic violence, but pro-cause rallies and such are not places you'd want to go for serious illumination on any given issue.

Re: oh man! AWESOME!
Well, true. I meant "You can find out a lot of information about what else you can do to help further your cause and/or the movement you are supporting's history."

I mean, if you are going to a rally or something, I'm assuming your mind is made up, but maybe not!

Also, a millyun points to you and Washu, F' what everyone else says. Good for you for getting out and making statements, instead of ... well, doing what I do, and bitching on Livejournal ...

WHAT ABOUT KAUFIE?? And now Tami!

Aw, Jon, there's no march in Tuscon. You can, er, get yourself involved in some hot gas station action.

Rainforestguy1! Himmel Park (our local hippie hangout)! Picketing at gas stations! There's SO MUCH to hate about this thing!

I wish I could find my post about fucking gas station protests ...

We already had our anti-war protest. I sent representatives.

Hey! I was planning on going to, with my video camera and regular camera. I might meet up with the parade once it gets closer to Center City. Or do you want to meet up somewhere? Maybe grab breakfast at the Silk City diner, since that's right on Spring Garden?

That would lead me to believe that it will be PIZZNACKED OUT. So maybe not something to count on. But yes, I would like to meet up with you, me and Kaufie both. We'll iron out details tomorrow or Friday, zat okay?

I will be there with lunarbot. I had heard about the protest, and was reluctant to go at first, but after pondering it, I think it's very important to let our leaders know just how many people are against going to war. In protests and marches, people can see something tangible going on. It's a way for the little guy to show how she feels.

If you want to meet up, or need someone to go with, e-mail me, wander999@aol.com.

Bring a picket sign that says "Picketting is for losers!" And walk around all serious-like.
