the only people for me are the mad ones

The Hitchhiker's Guide wouldn't fit into my purse, so yesterday I grabbed On The Road, which I liberated from my old room at my parents' house this weekend. I've read it only once, three summers ago. I probably shouldn't have started it. I'm less than 30 pages into it, and already I really want to take off across the country eating only apple pie and ice cream.

Of course, the best way to do that would be to hitchhike, but I don't think I'd do that, for safety reasons. Seeing the country from a car wouldn't be the same as hitchhiking but it's a lot closer to it than sitting in a cubicle composing Excel spreadsheets, right?

I can't go, though. For one, my car's leased, and already waayyyy over the allowed mileage. I'd like to do it in a convertible, too. And I'd like to go in Spring, before it gets too hot. Maybe next year. Probably not. Ah god, I'm going to die fat and alone and full of regrets. In Connecticut.
