I was in my apartment complex, only it was much larger with a lot more buildings. My friend Nancy and her husband and her baby needed a place to live, so they came to stay with me. It was pretty crowded. My lease is up in September, and I didn't know where they would stay after that. I didn't really want to live with them, though, because having a baby around would kind of cramp my style. I remember suggesting to them that maybe we could rent a tiny house, with a separate upstairs, or separate addition or something for me, so that I could do my thing and not intefere, but we would still saving money by living together.
And maybe Henky was staying with me too, or rather instead, and she tried to pay me rent, and I said no, don' t be silly.
Then Gina was having another party like the crystal party, only this one was all stuff made with suede. And everybody was there, boys and girls, and it wasn't too bad because everyone just sat around stroking the merchandise. And I think it was being held at Rachel's, or maybe this was another party, like a baby shower or something. I was standing at a table by the window, stroking some suede, and I saw a maroon '83 Ford Mustang pull up outside. Everyone got all quiet, and then Jeff hopped out and up the steps and came in, and I kept my head down, looking at the suede, and everybody else said hi to him, and then he dropped off whatever he had for Rachel, and then he took off again. I don't think he had seen my car because it was parked next to a white van, which may have been Fischer's. So he didn't know I was there until he got inside. And I felt bad because he couldn't hang out with Rachey, and everybody was all sympathetic and like, aw, that sucks. Which is funny, because that's probably not how that would happen in real life.
But then it was at my house where everyone was, and Nancy came home with her family and she didn't really say anything, but I could tell that she was a little put off because the baby wasn't going to be able to sleep with all those people there, but she couldn't say anything because it wasn't her house. And everybody thought Emily was gorgeous and we were all holding her and whatnot. And there were mad people from school there, like Sam and Andy and Greg, and it was an unexpected surprise, and I was really happy to see everyone. I was going around, hugging everyone individually, saying hi. And I was excited to get to Greg, to tell him that I was moving to Connecticut, but I don't think I got there before I woke up. And although I was excited, I was also a little nervous, because I have never handled the Greg situation well, and I know that I fucked up what could have been a very cool friendship.
I think that's it. Thanks for listening.
