Okay, you know those conversations that discuss the different ways people pronounce things? Ornj vs ahringe? Water vs wooder? Etc etc? I think those conversations are boring and tedious, and serve only to divide, when, in these, some of the most troubled times of our nation's brief history, we should be coming together and uniting as a people.

THIS discussion doesn't count, though, because THIS involves the addition of a MAGICAL FREAKING PHANTOM LETTER that seriously drives me batty.

Why do some people pronounce "across" "acrosst"?

Seriously. I don't get it.

My least favorite is drowned, and its past tense counterpart "drownded".
