I tried to eat a plum just now, but I didn't like it.

I don't think it was ripe yet.

Have you ever had a plum before?

was it the pale-inside kind, or the red-inside kind?

hmmm, i think i like the red-inside ones better. they are the kind that grew on the tree in my backyard, though, so i might be biased. they always seem juicier to me.

I got my plum information (i.e. that it wasn't ripe yet -- I have no idea how mushy a plum is supposed to be) from this site, which is very helpful. It says that there are TWENTY varieties of plum!

How can you tell from the outside, what sort of plum it is on the inside?

they start out pretty pale inside and as they ripen get pinker, softer and juicier. some people like the tart-ness of the not quite ripe plums, the way some people prefer granny smith apples to red delicious. :)
