While you're in the mood, take my poll!

What is up with the stickers?? Some of you people get STICKERS when you vote? What is this, third grade? Stickers, seriously?

Poll #1291373 Seriously, stickers?

Do you receive a sticker for voting in your district?

Where do you live? What state, I mean.

I have never received a sticker for voting in my life. It's kind of a cute idea, but . . . man.

I also think that voting via a paper ballot is CRAZYPANTS. When we lived in Queens and I went into the voting booth with Mom, it was levers. In South Jersey, it's a touch screen. Not like an ATM touch screen though, I would never think to call it a touch screen, it's more like pressing buttons. I get the paper trail thing, and trust me, electronic voting machines give me the willies, but still. Paper ballots? What is this, the CATs? Why is everything about the election elementary school-stylee?

I overslept so I'll vote on my way home from work. And then create some sort of drinking game. A shot for every swing state that Obama carries, maybe? Oh, how about every state that Obama wins that Kerry didn't. Hopefully I'll be passed out by 8:30.

My sole reason for wanting the sticker was because in some places you need it to redeem free stuff for having voted today. Usually I pass on the sticker. Of course today, when I wanted it, no stickers.

Not true! You can just say that you voted. Because technically speaking, it is illegal to receive something for free just because you voted.

By the way, my theory is that the pansy-ass left coast and Florida get stickers, and the tough-as-nails northeast do not because we don't NEED 'em.

I think this is true, at least for my pansy-ass state.

I got them in AZ and they drove me nuts. I kept trying to refuse them because seriously, save the money, guys. But those elderly election volunteers are PUSHY.

I always put mine on bananas at the supermarket, because I'm meta.

Growing up in Arizona, my parents always got them and I always looked forward to getting them myself someday. But New York doesn't give them out (other than some rogue districts who probably buy them themselves). But I love them and miss them, it makes the day feel even more festive and exciting.

Yeah, I'm probably just jealous. Cuz I rock the hell out of "I Gave Blood Today" stickers when I get those.

I've lived in WA for my entire adult/voting life and they've always done stickers - today as I walked out the nice girl asked me if I wanted mine and I was like, "YES PLEASE, I'VE WAITED A LOOOONG TIME FOR THIS STICKER!!!"

However, I have to say that free Starbucks coffee and a free vibrator from Babeland are waaaaay better voting incentives than a silly little sticker. Hooray for capitalism. ;)

They give stickers in Florida and Georgia and Mississippi! All three states I lived in prior had them, which is why I was aghast and bewildered when I didn't get one today! It felt like the time I went to the pediatrician and I was suddenly too old for a lollipop at the end.

i could have sworn that i got the I Voted stickers sometimes when i lived in new jersey. maybe just in atco? i'm *pretty* sure it happened, though. definitely got one everytime in california [see Fig. 1.0]. i like the sticker because maybe it will remind some jackass who forgot to vote. besides, stickers are awesome. i put stickers on everything: my phone, my laptop, my lunchbox, my bookcases and, now, ME.

when i moved here, i thought it was insane & backwards that they vote with paper & pen. until i arrived, i had only ever voted in a booth, behind a curtain, by pulling a lever. now i sit at a table in the little church across the street & fill out my ballot by hand. it's quaint, i kinda like it.

also, i accidentally wore my Obama button to the polling place. after like 3 weeks of hearing retarded news pieces saying, "don't wear your Obama t-shirt to the polls OR YOU CAN'T VOTE!" & thinking, "who is that stupid," it turns out, i am. luckily it is on my pants, so no one noticed...

We asked about stickers. They didn't have any.

"Some of you people get STICKERS when you vote? What is this, third grade? Stickers, seriously?"

Wow, you are really jealous about our stickers aren't you? If I send you one will you calm down?

I was really hoping for a giant cartoony lever when I went to the polls today.

Man do I ever miss the big ol' cartoony lever that they used to have on the voting machines. Now it's all lame touchscreens and buttons.

The future STINKS!

MINE had a ridiculous cartoony lever to go with the ridiculous cartoony volunteers that were making a mess of things,

I did get my booth to chirp angrily at me by pressing a region on the screen that wasn't associated with a button. Once I found out that little gem, I was making it chirp about two or three times per screen.

I totally voted *in* an elementary school. And got a sticker.

I filled out my absentee ballot and carried it over to the polling place this morning, just so I could get a sticker.

I did, however, receive a shit ton of attitude. Bless your heart, New York.

i LOVE the sticker!
