I don't know how Slick does it.

So I'm sitting here trying to study for this stupid test that I SHOULD have taken a year and a half ago, and I must say, it's certainly reaffirming my particular engineering choice. Civil engineering is probably the most bourgeois engineering field (next to Ceramic), but I don't care, man. Gimme something big, and I'll make sure it stands still, and doesn't fall down. No problem. Hit me, anything, I'm on it. But for God's sake don't let it move, and please, please, for the love of Pete, DON'T MAKE IT ROTATE. I can't handle the fucking angular velocity, denoted by a lowercase omega that looks like a fucking w. I can't handle centripetal force, or angular momentum, or any of that other shit. Fuck it. I don't think in circles, I think in straight lines -- straight lines that stay in the same goddamn place. As I'm going through this study manual -- which is about 2 inches thick and big as hell -- some of the stuff, like the calculus and the statics, is coming back, and some just doesn't want to be absorbed. I did fine in all this shit in school, because there were lectures and examples and homework. But apparently some of it stuck, and a lot if it didn't. Man. And still to come I have electricity, magnetism, fluid dynamics, and -- Lord help me -- economics.

So it wasn't until late 2013 that I learned how amazing Ursula K. Le Guin is, and how much I adore her. I have been slow in getting through her…
